Greenbriar Swim 6/15 update
Hello Greenbriar families,
Congratulations to all our swimmers for an excellent start to our season at time trials!
There are a few important action items in this week’s update so please read carefully: signing up for both Saturday and Monday meets, and a new Stars and Strokes event.
This Saturday, June 20, is our first NVSL dual meet against Mount Vernon Park (away). The coaches will use times from time trials and declared availability to determine who will swim this Saturday. Our team can enter 3 swimmers per event. Reps will send out a list of swimmers being considered for the meet on Wednesday to confirm their availability. The coaches will announce at Friday’s practices the swimmers for the meet and which events they will swim.
Note: entries are not finalized until Thursday evening. If you see anything in Swimtopia before Friday that shows your swimmer may be in the meet, please do not tell your swimmers until the final meet sheet has been announced, since there may be last minute changes.
Monday, June 22 is our first Developmental Meet against Brookfield, at home. All swimmers may participate. Swimmers may enter 2 events of their choice (plus IM if ready and interested). The deadline to sign your swimmers up in Swimtopia and select the events they would like to swim is Saturday, June 20. If your swimmer does not have a time in an event, or wants to try an event for the first time, please consider consulting with the coaches to make sure they are ready for that event.
Please sign up to volunteer at Saturday’s and Monday’s meets, as well as at the other fun social events coming this week. Please see Melinda’s email for details on all the fun.
A new event is on our calendar: The Stars and Strokes Relay and IM Carnival on Wednesday, July 1 at Poplar Tree (with Poplar Tree and Sully Station). This event has been in the works for a few years. It is designed to provide a relay carnival experience for swimmers who do not usually swim in relays at the meets. The coaches will select swimmers for the relays. Unfortunately there is not space for all swimmers in the relays, but everyone who can swim all four strokes, and is interested, can sign up to swim the IM. Please mark your calendar, sign your swimmers up in swimtopia, and sign up to volunteer. Then come in your best red, white and blue to cheer on Greenbriar!
Time Trial Thank You’s:
We would like to extend a big thank you to everyone for helping out at time trials this past weekend. We appreciate all hands on deck helping out! It took everyone’s efforts to put on this meet: timers, officials, clerk of course, marshals, table, diner, runners, announcer, set up and take down. A special thank you goes to Andrew Murdoch and Stan Wong for stepping into new roles as ref and starters.
Thank you also to the apparel team for outfitting our swimmers and our fans for the season. Everyone looked great! And last but certainly not least, a big thank you goes to our social committee leads, Melinda Perez and Casie Williams for putting on the ice cream social and for planning so many fun events throughout the season for our swimmers and families.
Thank you again to every volunteer. Our Greenbriar swim team community came together and started off the 2026 season right! Please head to Swimtopia to sign your swimmers up for the upcoming meets and social events, and to see what you might volunteer for next!
