Communication

Swim team information is communicated primarily through the swim team web site – www.greenbriardolphins.org – your primary source for up-to-date team information, as well as through the SwimTopia app.

In addition to the team website, you should also consider downloading the accompanying app for your iPhone or Android device. It is called “Swimtopia.” This will allow you to conveniently manage your swimmer’s summer season as well as volunteer for various positions. By enabling notifications for the application you will also be up to date on last minute announcements such as weather delays.

Emails are also sent on a regular basis from the team reps and coaches to remind you about upcoming events or to solicit responses. A team bulletin board located adjacent to the snack bar and lifeguard office (and next to the swim and dive record boards) also includes basic team info and meet results will also be posted there. Below the bulletin board is the team folder box, which contains a folder for each family that has registered and paid for the summer. Physical documents and ribbons are placed in your family folder for you to take home.

Practices

Practice times are posted on the team website and the swim team bulletin board. Swimmers should come to practice regularly and be prepared to do their best.

Inclement Weather

If the pool is closed, we can’t practice or hold a meet. We will attempt to communicate cancellations and delays in real time through the SwimTopia app or SMS messaging, but you can also view the current pool status here: http://enet.hopto.org/gbpool.html or on the pool’s Twitter feed (@GBPoolClub) or Facebook page.

Swimmer Apparel

The Greenbriar Dolphins have a team suit, a team t-shirt, and a team swim cap, which are included as part of the registration fee. The wearing of the team suit is necessary when representing the team at swim meets; the swim cap is optional, but recommended. You should also consider buying at least one practice suit for your swimmer.

Suits, caps and t-shirts will be delivered to you at the pool when they are available. If you registered late you may need to visit our apparel provider to collect your suits. Our apparel provider is SuitUp Water Sports located at 10627 Braddock Rd, Fairfax (University Mall).

The team will often also sell silicone team swim caps at the beginning of the season, along with other optional team spirit wear.

Other Gear

Every swimmer needs a towel and goggles. Other accessories you should consider for meets are: a sweatsuit (for cool days), a folding camp chair, a hat or other sun protection, and a bag to carry everything. You should also have a water bottle or sports drink and a healthy snack for during the meet. Save the sweets at the concession stand as a reward for swimming a great swim.
